Wooden Jetty

Completed in 1883 to a length of 1664 metres (5459 feet) - then the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere. Shortened to 1283 metres (4209 feet) by storms - still the longest jetty in Australia.

Water goes out over 1km at low tide.
