I have a passing interest in Australian history and enjoy taking photos of nature reclaiming abandoned buildings. This raises a number of questions.
Should these ruins be restored to what they were?
Should they be left for nature to reclaim?
Should they be preserved as they are now?
I like to see how the buildings used to look, but crumbling ruins make for more interesting photos. I don't like to see ruins that are being destroyed by vandals (destroying ruins? hmm) - but many of them are, especially those close to main roads. Many of them have been used as camp sites - that's fine, but don't wreck the place, and don't use the timber framework on the camp fire. Future generations should also have the opportunity to see these - as they are now or as they once were.
